Transfer duty 2025/26

The tax nobody warns you about.

Transfer duty is payable to SARS on most property purchases and scales with the price. Below R1,210,000 it falls away entirely — one reason first-time buyers should look carefully at that bracket.

Duty must be paid before the Deeds Office will register your transfer. We attend to the SARS declarations and receipts as part of every file.
